We will be doing a creative writing/research paper in Social Studies to end the year.  We have read the story of “Eggbert the Slightly Cracked Egg.”  Now it is your turn.  You will need to create your own character (egg) who will take an adventure.  You have already decided where your egg is going.  Now explain why he/she is going there and how they will get there.  Once there, your egg will need to visit five different locations of interest within the state and find three facts about each location.  In addition, you will need to find 5 fun facts about your state (state motto, song, flower, etc.).

                We will be doing this in a step by step process including notecards, outline, rough draft, and a final copy.  Some information can be gathered from an encyclopedia, but you will also be required to use at least two other sources.  The final project will include a picture of your character, a map of your state highlighting your 5 points of interest, and a written account (report) of where your egg traveled.  The final copy will need to be typed.

                Projects should be worked on during class time.  I will explain each step of the process as we get to it.  Please do not work ahead in case my instructions are different than something you may have done in the past.  Each check point on the project will be worth 10 points.  If it is not ready the day it is due, it could be turned in the next day for ½ credit, and after that there will be no credit given.
